I meant to write a post last week, but I got so busy with being off for March Break and then catching up on everything back at work, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, I want to give you an update on how my 30 Day Kettlebell Challenge is going! IF you have been following my Instagram you will have seen my daily posts, but here’s a summary of the past 3 weeks.
The workouts aren’t too challenging. I didn’t expect they would be. My main purpose of this challenge was to kick start a fitness routine again. With my inconsistent tiny sleeper I have figured out that my first priority after getting her to sleep is my workout. I’m guaranteed about 30 minutes (more if I’m lucky) when I first put her down, so I bust my butt and get my workout done before she bellows for me to comfort her back to sleep again. Some nights that just wasn’t possible, but that didn’t stop me. I would do my workout in my bedroom, in the dark, while the tiny one slept in my bed. You see I can’t leave the bedroom for long when she’s in my bed. Even with the pillows I have propped all over the bed, if she wakes and I’m not there she’ll wiggle around until she falls off the bed. That’s the good thing about a workout that needs minimal space and little to no equipment. It can be done anywhere!
I can tell you I wasn’t a fan of burpee day, or the last day that week when I had to do them again. I suck at push ups, always have, so I wasn’t too happy to find them in my workout. But you don’t get good at something by avoiding it, right?! I am looking forward to moving on from this challenge and starting a solid workout routine again. If anything I have realized how much I actually miss working out. I miss the feeling of accomplishment. I miss looking in the mirror and seeing progress. Most of all I miss the high I would get from it. Back in the day (before kids) I would hit the gym every day before work. If I missed a day my colleagues could tell instantly. My mood would be off. I would be grumpy, sluggish, and less productive. My ultimate goal is to win back that morning workout time. Once I kick the tiny one out of my bed there will be no stopping me!
For now, me and my kettlebells are going to take this challenge to the end!
