I have never been a huge fan of Valentine’s Day. I’m not a bitter single lady. I have a husband who is the love of my life, along with three little people who ARE my life. But Valentine’s Day has never been my thing. My thought is that I would rather get a surprise “I love you” gift any other day of the year, than on a day he’s “obligated” to get me one. But that’s not what this post is about.
Along with my many other talents I am a little crafty (with the help of a crafting machine that does most of the work). I’m that mother that likes to send my kids with a little something extra for their classmates for the holidays. With all the allergies I’m afraid to send food treats, so we get creative in other ways.
For Halloween we sent dinosaur eggs that hatch in water. They were a hit!
For Christmas we sent slap bracelets in a cardstock stocking. Super cute!
So for Valentine’s we decided to send plush emoji keychains. For the card/tag I just used yellow card stock and put “Happy Valentine’s Day” on it. For my 7 year old I put her classmates’names. The 4 year old just got a ‘From Ayden” since he can’t quite read all his classmates names. I’m sure the teachers have enough to deal with and don’t want to be reading 25 names for a child to hand out Valentine’s.
I love doing these things for my kids. They like having something unique to hand out to their friends and they love helping me design and print things out on the Cricut. It doesn’t have to be extravagant or super fancy, just a little tweak of uniqueness.
As a little surprise I have made them chocolate covered Oreo’s for their lunch bags…shhh.
I need 34 hour days to get half the regular stuff I need to done, but I will gladly put something aside or stay up late to get the little extras done for my babes.
